At the end of our second week of A Milan Expo Pavilion Every Day, we’ve already shown you pavilions from all around the world, from Brazil to Slovenia to Azerbaijan and Japan.
Today, it’s time to see Kuwait’s pavilion. The arid Middle Eastern nation has created an impressive sailing boat with natural phenomena like waterfalls, sun and rain staged inside, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in nature and use all their senses. Visitors arrive in a desert landscape, before entering the ship inside which there is a tour of a “small fortress” (the meaning of “Kuwait” in Arabic), a refreshment area in the style of an Arab souk, and a large central fire. Kuwait faces plenty of challenges related to water, agriculture, and energy, so much of their exhibition focuses on these aspects. The concept was developed by Italo Rota and certainly delivers a flavour of the Middle East.
Come back tomorrow for the next pavilion in our series…
