Unfinished, rupture of matter, imperfection is a stylistic hallmark launched at Milan Design Week 2023. If Daniel Arsham with Snarkitecture has been practicing it for some time and reinforces it with two new collaborations, Gufram and Nendo – creating unfinished furnishings with an impact – the same happens for young designers or large companies.
Richard Yasmine presented Silent Hollows , an installation/tribute to Mother Nature with crater-shaped mirrors that mix 3D printing and manual skills.
Antonio Lupi throws a sink signed Paolo Ulian with frayed edges, a nice result of an initial mistake, Duccio Maria Gambi for Bitossi breaks up the scraps of ceramic processing by hand to make them into decorations for containers and trays for Bitossi, each one unique.
As always, Galerie Philia finds a unique location, the deconsecrated church of San Vittore e 40 Martiri for Desecralized, a collective in which the material, often marble, is unfinished, forged by hand. And the young Cosma Frascina continues, in various locations, to show her objects and furnishings in hand-forged limestone, leaving the material “alive” and raw. Pieces that promote a new aesthetic, and are already collectable.
