Biasol Design Studio in Australia has created this beautifully geometric café inside an old prison. Jury Cafe can be found in Pentridge Village, Melbourne, which was previously Pentridge Prison. The contrast between the bluestone walls and the light woods creates a great sense of balance, the timber and plants bring the outside in, and the occasional touches of bright accent colours makes the café feel playful and young. The space is enhanced by the addition of simple lighting and furniture, which in a way mirrors the simplicity of prison decor, but thanks to the designers’ vision, there’s definitely no way you’d feel like you were having a coffee in an old jail.
