Loop is an intricate lilac marble run twists through an all white space.
This is the result of the latest collaboration between Snarkitecture and fashion brand COS is an installation piece that hangs suspended from the ceiling of the Gana Art Gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
Utilising precision engineering, this pendulous sculpture is brought to life by white glass marbles. Every five minutes a marble travels along each of the four tracks, its mesmerizing journey ending only when it passes through to the next room—landing in an ocean of all of the marbles that have fallen before. Loop’s architectural scale and its jovial nod to childhood games are hallmarks of the work of the design duo.
Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen named their studio after Lewis Carroll’s “The Hunting Of The Snark”—a tale described as the impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature. Their work is an ode to this sentiment and their own search for the unknown.
