San Francisco angles | ANGELA MAY CHEN

The series is produced for The Bold Italic and the photographer here is Angela May Chen that turns everything upside-down in order to portray the city of San Francisco from unique angles and each cityscape is taken as a reflection in a puddle. Those images can be a bit surreal at the first glance but if you stare at them for a minute you will understand better the meaning. The artist is focusing on the ground rather than the horizon, Chen transforms the architecture, bridges, and sidewalks into magical objects that are, at first, a bit confusing to decipher. Upon close inspection, each watery reflection reveals itself as a creative combination of various urban elements and textured sidewalks along the streets of San Francisco. All those photos are collected straight after a rainfall, and she tries to catch the beauty of the city right through the water.
