After noticing that most companies are looking to cut costs rather than deliver products that people really want, 34-year old Chinese engineer and entrepreneur Jason Zhang (founder of Z Camera) has come up with the world’s smallest 4K camera with interchangeable lenses. This pocket-sized, cinema-quality camera stands to threaten the likes of GoPro with its great definition, tiny size, and ability to be attached to drones, cars and more. The (somewhat unimaginatively named) E1 comes with a 14mm f/2.5 lens but also supports all Panasonic and Olympus MFT lenses, can also be used to capture 16 megapixel JPEG and RAW stills, and also boasts an “incredible low light performance”. It can also be controlled remotely, and a standard tripod mount means that aftermarket accessories are easily added. Early backers on Kickstarter were able to reserve their E1 for $449, but it looks like the cameras will eventually be retailing for around $700.
