“Erase” is an interactive installation. The components are an approximately 20 ft. long x 7 ft. tall drawing of an AR-15 assault rifle done entirely in graphite pencil and a stack of 2000 erasers placed to the left of the drawing. The erasers have all been hand stamped with names of the 83 victims killed in the Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, and Newtown massacres. Those who choose to participate will erase a small portion of the drawing with these erasers. The artwork’s finished form is in the hands of the people who this is empowering. Will it be fully erased? How long will it take? The entire process, of both the drawing and the erasing will be filmed in time-lapsed still frames. A video will be created, and if time is remaining in ArtPrize it will be shown next to the piece.
