London-based designer Joshua Renouf has created the “Barisieur”, a charming alarm clock that is also a coffee-maker. It is designed to wake the user up gently with the sound of clinking ball bearings—which are used to boil water—and the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
Not only is this a very pleasant way to ease oneself into the new day, but this innovative alarm clock also requires the user to perform the ritual of preparing the device for the next morning before going to bed—this would hopefully signal to “the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax”.
