It’s always refreshing to come across an example of compact, domestic architecture as original as the Rambla House by LAND Arquitectos. What appears at first sight to be a half-finished building site reveals itself, upon closer inspection, to be a highly conceptualized summer living space in which the outdoor and indoor areas flow seamlessly into one another. Wood paneling on the floors, walls and ceiling creates an almost seamless texture across all surfaces, allowing the pool terrace to flow directly into the living room, kitchen and alfresco grill area. Meanwhile, the imposing, industrial V-shaped girders that support the building’s roof punctuate the horizon like tree trunks, allowing a series of retractable glass windows to slide into place and create a more intimate area if so desired. A remarkably stylish seafront getaway.
