PACKING TAPE ART | MARK KHAISMAN

Do you remember the artist Max Zorn? The portraits tape artist’s? So, at LODZ Design Festival we discover another interesting artist using the same method for his art. His name is Mark Khaisman which works are pictorial illusions formed by light and shadow. He started the project ten years ago and he described it as “chaos management” that was able to express with the imaginary and fictional. The viewer perceives the image through layers of tape, comprehending his work process step-by-step, seeing past applications of overlapping vertical and horizontal bands of tape. The main subjects are famous images of people, often taken from scenes of classic Hollywood films or Film Noir. Mark Khaisman born in 1958 in Kiev, now lives in Philadelphia where he began exhibiting his tape works in 2005.
