Museum silence is like no other: the squeak of a sneaker, the stifled sneeze. At MUDE, Lisbon’s recently reopened Museum of Design and Fashion, early Rolling Stones tunes play as an odd but pleasant soundtrack to the debut exhibition, “From Corbusier to Alaia.” The space, an old bank headquarters from the 1950s, is as raw as a shucked oyster, with exposed pipes and dangling wires. The unpolished setting makes for a nice contrast to the 170 pieces of designer fashion and artful construction on display in this bubbly curtsy to the aesthetics of the 20th century.
