Clothes that you cannot wear

Masami Yamamoto | Collater.al

Masami Yamamoto is not a new Japanese designer who is about to present his FW 22/23 collection, what he makes are not skilfully embroidered sweaters and underwear, but ceramic sculptures.
The white that characterizes the artist’s works is not in fact what a new Martin Margiela would promise, but the color of the fired ceramic, worked with extreme precision, to recreate the folds and shapes of objects that really existed and above all belonged to people who really existed. . This is an important theme for the artist, Yamamoto’s works are in fact a way to stop time in a static form, that of stone. The creations are thus able not only to stop the hourglass but also to preserve a memory of crumpled, wrinkled objects, which convey a lived experience, and not their ideal shape.
