OPW – BMMC Milano and Elizabeth Francis worked on the Irish pavilion for Expo 2015, which reflects the country’s social, historical and cultural identity and is comprised of two separate rectangular structres with three floors each. The curved walls provide shade from the hot Italian sun and of course the structure is made of sustainable materials, even featuring solar panels to be even more eco-friendly. Inside the pavilion, visitors can enjoy Irish food, music, art, dance, and literature, and will be taken on a journey from one side of the Emerald Isle to the other, experiencing the culture of Ireland and learning about the natural resources and pure, fertile, green pastures. Ireland Plaza is an unmissable area, hosting stage shows, concerts and performances in the open air with a truly cheerful, Irish atmosphere.
