The Don Bosco Network is a federation of 8 Salesian NGOs which works with vulnerable groups, particularly focusing on education. The pavilion design has been based on the concept of a house: a reassuring place where people can stay, rest, and shelter. The minimal design was inspired by simple, kids’ drawings – there’s a porch area outside the house where people are encouraged to meet and socialise, and there is just one space inside the simple, rectangular structure, which is used for an exhibition teaching people about issues of poverty and nutrition. Made from steel and plywood, the pavilion is sustainable, and also easily dismantled and remounted for its future use; after Expo, it will be used as an educational centre for young people.
