As you know by now, May is the month of Designmonat Graz – a whole month of design in Austria’s second city organised by CIS. Today, it’s time to tell you about SELECTED 2015. SELECTED is a popular part of Designmonat Graz, and is the perfect place to go if you’re into interiors and furniture design, as you’ll definitely find objects that you love. With products from 52 designers hailing from 22 different nations, there’s a lot on display and, of course, you can find designs by established names as well as ones you may be less familiar with.
As the name suggests, SELECTED features work which has been carefully chosen by curator Alexa Holzer and her team, meaning the quality of products on display is excellent. This year’s theme is Design as a Statement: Back and Forward, so you’ll see a lot of traditional methods used to create awesome new designs with modern materials. Some amazing designers are in Graz right now showing their work, including Alex de Witte, who is one of Feel Desain’s favourite lighting designers, Polish design label Kosmos Project, and Thorunn Arndottir who we first discovered in Iceland earlier this year. For the last week of Designmonat Graz the main exhibition space, the designHalle, will be transformed into a designSupermarket, where you can buy some of the work on display.
