We discovered the Loop Chair at this year’s Salone Satellite at Milan Design Week. It’s the work of Swedish designer Markus Johansson and was developed in collaboration with Erik-Hugo Pajos and Omayra Maymó. The chair was inspired by digressions of the mind – the designer believes that while the straight line may be the shortest way to arrive somewhere, it may not be the most exciting. The result of this approach is an abstract and fun piece of furniture, which looks almost like a toy, but is in fact a comfortable, long-lasting, weather-resistant creation which is very practical as well as nice to look at. The project was a kind of experiment for the team, who were using fiber-reinfoced plastic and fiberglass combined with 3D printing technology for the first time. Find out more about Markus and his team on his site, and look at some pictures of the Loop Chair below.
