Chinese visual artist Wei Li presents Turn Me On, a collection of interactive objects which invite viewers to “turn them on”.
Four different objects that hide an electronic soul inside. Artist Wei Li wants to play with words in a funny way. As a matter of fact, Turn Me On collection draws parallels between turning on an electronic device and sexually arousing somebody (ie. turning somebody on).
At a first glance, the form of objects appears innocent, yet the interaction they afford naturally transports the viewer’s mind to a place of sexual fantasy. When you interact with them those objects answer with sexual sound, as one can see from the video below.
The artist got her inspiration by observing the “power on” buttons on various electronic devices – like the one on your computer – and realizing how the symbolic representation resembles that of a union between a male part and a female part.
