Over 900 Black Plastic Chairs Given New Life as Architecture
This building was a showroom of old cars, today it’s a super trendy furniture showroom with an incredible design.
In an outskirt of a housing estate in the Czech Republic, CHYBIK+KRISTOF studio has built a building whose facades are entirely covered with chairs. Total black.
Over 900 plastic chairs were fixed to the steel structure of building, forming the interesting façade. Keeping pragmatism in mind, the architects ensured that there is a possibility to replace the chairs in a case of damage, and that the high-pressure water cleaning can be done once to twice a year.
An ingenious idea that does not seem to be the only one signed by the studio founded in 2010 by two ex-University classmates, Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof.
