On the 14th of February World‘s jury have announced from Amsterdam the winners of the 57th edition of the most important journalism photography prize. The award of Photo of the year was given to american photographer John Stanmeyer (first down here). The image shows a group of immigrants on an african beach trying to find mobile signal for their phones. “the picture is related to lots of other stories” – comments jury woman Jillian Edelstein – “it invites people to talk about technology, globalization, migration, poverty, despair, alienation, humanity. It’s a very rich photograph, full of undertones”.
Selecting between more than 90 thousand images, the jury selected 53 photographers from 25 different countries. Enjoy.
