Pyramid Skyscraper to join Cairo’s skyline

The Egyptian government has unveiled plans to add a skyscraper to the country’s capital city as an homage to Egypt’s most famous symbol: the pyramid.

Renders released recently show an impressive 200m high obelisk-shaped construction, alongside a second, shorter pyramid. Intended to boost the city’s job market and economy, as well as embellishing the landscape, the building is intended as an “administrative, commercial and entertainment project” and will include buildings for various purposes, says Minister of Housing Moustafa Madbouly. We’ll have to wait for further details, but if this project goes ahead, it will certainly add something special to West Cairo’s Sheikh Zayed district.
