Pantone Color Institute has announced its newest PANTONE Colour, and it’s called Minion Yellow, after the bizarre little critters from the Despicable Me films from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. PANTONE says that Minion Yellow is “an illuminating, energetic, friendly and fun-loving yellow shade that immediately calls out to you” and we couldn’t agree more. The idea of creating Minion Yellow has been attributed to Pharell Williams who helped create the music for the Despicable Me franchise, and the new shade comes just at the right time for consumers who want to add more energising colours into their lives, according to studies at the Pantone Color Institute. Minion Yellow is the first shade ever to be named after a character in Pantone’s history, and will be added to the PANTONE Fashion, Home & Interiors colour palette with the next colour addition.
