Ralf Kittmann ha vinto il premio iF Design per il suo concetto di bicicletta elettrica HMK 561. Kittmann ha creato un prototipo funzionante realizzato in fibra di carbonio, che non solo è un ottimo conduttore di elettricità, ma è anche un condensatore che può immagazzinare energia. L’energia dal telaio in fibra di carbonio è in grado di trasmettere energia alle luci ed ai motori a bordo della HMK 561. Inoltre, la bicicletta ha anche un meccanismo di frenata rigenerativa che trasforma le ruote con un asse contro-svolta senza ingranaggi o catene.

Ralf Kittmann took home an iF Design Award for his electric bicycle concept HMK 561. This ultralight zero-emission bike concept and design is clearly novel. Unlike most concept designs we see, Kittmann created a working prototype constructed from conductive carbon fiber, which is not only an excellent conductor of electricity, but also acts as a… capacitor that can store energy. Energy from the carbon fiber frame is capable of transmitting power to drive the lights and the motors in between the rims of the HMK 561. Moreover, the bike also feature a regenerative braking mechanism that turns the wheels using a counter-turning axle without any gears or chains. This energy is obtained by converting the mechanical energy into electrical energy in each mobile connection of mechanism and the resulting energy is then fed to the engine and lights.
