Buchstaben Museum – the Museum of Letters – is a celebration of the written form. Quite literally (excuse the pun) the space is inhabited by letters of all sizes and font faces. The museum, tucked away indiscreetly behind a mall in Berlin, is a collection built from contributors who bring new life to the found type. Bold, white sans-serifs fill one room while neon signage occupies another. Some are old, with worn and peeling paint, while others appear pristine and bear no evidence of time. The letters run a wide gamut, and collectively become an exercise in form and communication. It is truly a typographer’s dreamscape!
