Selfie sticks are one of the more controversial smartphone accessories of recent times. Love them or hate them, it has to be said that they do serve a purpose – but what if there were another way?
Enter Podo – a tiny, colourful, smartphone-controlled camera with a sticky (and replaceable) suction pad and a strong magnet, meaning it can stick to almost anything. The button-free device is turned on/off with a double tap, connects to iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth, and auto-orientates your snaps. Podo can capture stills, videos, time-lapse, and GIFs, all from a distance, meaning that a whole group can fit into the picture. Of course, Podo has a Kickstarter campaign, but the makers have already surpassed their initial $50,000 goal, meaning the device should make it to production in the coming months.
If the final result is as cool as it sounds, it could very well spell the end for the selfie stick…
