For the first time since its 1997 debut, Maison Martin Margiela presents a capsule collection. This time in collaboration with NYC retail pioneer Opening Ceremony. See the looks after the jump.
One of the most unique qualities of MMM‘s aesthetic is the concept of transformation and reinterpretation. Teaming up with New York retail darling Opening Ceremony, Margiela takes this idea to the next level with a “3 in 1″ approach. Different looks throughout the collection are able to transform into separately wearable garments, like the fur coat and leather jacket, both with detachable linings that become shirts, while still retaining fur and leather sleeve details. The concept is also applied to accessories, with leather leg attachments that compliment their ankle boot counterparts, giving the illusion of a knee length boot, and a tote bag with two separate clutches which clasp onto one another, forming one big mega-bag with maximum holding space.
