Being part of design events is one of our favorites. Every year we have a standing appointment with Designmonat Graz (One Month of Design) that now counts its 10th edition.
For 4 weeks the city of Graz will be completely overwhelmed by design and creativity with a dense program.
Friday, May 4th we attended the grand opening ceremony in Joanneumviertel with the welcome speech of Eberhard Schrempf, the managing director of Creative Industries Styria, the mayor of Graz Siegfreid Nagl and minister for economy, tourism, Europe, science and research of Austria Barbara Eibinger-Miedl.
This year’s focus of Designmonat Graz is “Tolerance”, because design is also a question of it. The concept is represented in the visual of the festival which represents flags from all over the world. This and more. In the city centre people can visit installations and exhibitions. We definitely recommend Tolerance Posters exhibition curated by Mirko Ilić, Bosnian-born comics artist based in New York City.
The day after we paid visit at Brillenquartier, a real glasses quarter that won the worldwide “Best Store Award” for opticians in 2017. During Designmonat Graz, Andy Wolf designer Katharina Schlager has presented here the current collection of Andy Wolf Eyewear. All their glasses are designed and produced in Austria.
Designmonat Graz has developed from year to year and is continuously changing. The event has well established and has become a constant within the European festival calendar.
