Le Corderie dell’Arsenale
The opening room at Le Corderie dell’Arsenale.
Both the opening rooms of Biennale Architettura 2016 – at the Central Pavilion at Giardini and at Arsenale – were built with the 100 tons of waste material generated by the dismantling of the previous Art Biennale: 10,000 m2 of gypsum board, 14 km of metal studs.
The first room at Corderie is the very same one that was used in 2014 to host the Swarovski installation. From crystal to waste material. Value is not based on the quality of material, but on creative and distinctive use instead.
