Knarvik Community Church is the work of award-winning Oslo architects Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, famous for their bold, simple and very Scandinavian architecture, and is a modern take on a Norwegian stave church from the Middle Ages. Built in layers and with a tall spire, the church also has clean, angular lines and amazingly looks totally in harmony with the nature surrounding it. The exterior pine walls have been pre-weathered, meaning the church doesn’t look excessively new, but blends with the environment. Inside, the church is filled with natural light and pale pine wood, making it feel very clean and natural, while remaining simple. Take a look at the photos below.
