A Milan Expo pavilion every day | Day 13: Hungary

Hungary’s pavilion at the Expo in Milan brings together good food, healthy lifestyles, food security, and biodiversity, and brings together the virtues of Hungary’s mineral, natural and thermal water, as well as underlining that the country is GMO-free. The pavilion, which features wooden structures as well as an open-air garden and vegetable garden, was designed under the supervision of Sándor Sárkány, the leading creative director. It comprises 3 floors and uses typically Hungarian shapes and materials, inspired by the mid-twentieth century architecture and traditions. The central area was inspired by Noah’s Ark, and the two ends are shaped like shamanic drums featuring the symbol of the tree of life. After the Expo, the structure will be reconstructed in Hungary, where it will be used as a research centre.
