The offical opening day is the 7th of June, directed by Rem Koolhaas and organized by the “Biennale di Venezia” and directed by Paolo Baratta. The 5th and 6th of June the Biennale Gardens will be lit, with the “Arsenale”, the 65 world pavillions and lots of other spaces around Venice. The opening party, with the Gold Lions delivery, will br held the 7th of June 2014.
The history of the past one hundred years and the various ways adopted in different countries to absorb the modern constitutes the prelude to the Elements of Architecture section hosted in the Central Pavilion, where the curator offers the contemporary world those elements that should represent the reference points for the discipline, and its dialogue with clients and society. The involvement has been truly bold and innovative. To this must be added the special involvement of the curator in the separate Monditalia section in the Corderie, where some aspects of the situation in Italy are collected and shown through forty research projects conducted ad hoc under the guidance of Rem, to remind us of the com plexity of this reality without complacency or prejudice, which is paradigmatic of what happens elsewhere in the world; a reality in which correlated problems not only must not be denied or concealed, but must be deliberately experienced as sources of rege neration and hence also as points of reference for architecture.
Apre al pubblico sabato 7 giugno la 14a Mostra Internazionale di Architettura diretta da Rem Koolhaas, voluta dalla Biennale di Venezia presieduta da Paolo Baratta. Il 5 e 6 giugno saranno accesi i Giardini della Biennale, l’Arsenale, i padiglioni di 65 paesi partecipanti e tanti spazi in tutta la città. La cerimonia di inaugurazione, con la consegna dei Leoni d’oro ad architetti e progetti sarà sabato 7 giugno 2014.
La storia degli ultimi cento anni e delle diverse vie percorse nei vari paesi per assorbire il moderno prelude alla sezione Elements of Architecture, che si svolge al Padiglione Centrale, dove il curatore ripropone al mondo contemporaneo gli elementi che dovrebbero rappresentare i nuovi riferimenti della disciplina, per il suo dialogo con la committenza e la società. E l’impegno è davvero coraggioso e innovativo. Si aggiunge poi la dedizione particolare messa dal curatore nella sezione separata Monditalia alle Corderie, dove alcuni aspetti della realtà del paese Italia vengono raccolti e rappresentati con 41 ricerche ad hoc condotte sotto la guida di Rem, per ricordarci senza compiacimento né pregiudizio la complessità di questa realtà, paradigmatica di quanto avviene in altre parti del mondo; realtà i cui correlati problemi non solo non devono essere negati o occultati, ma devono essere consapevolmente vissuti, come fonti di rigenerazione e quindi anche con riferimenti per l’architettura.
