The amazing project we’re bringing you today, on Nozomi Sushi Bar in Valencia, also included both branding and interior design. The Masquespacio team first had to study Japanese culture and the origins of sushi, in order to understand how best to proceed with their project. Nozomi is both a Japanese high speed bullet train, and the Japanese word for “fulfilled dream”, so through the name, Masquespacio was able to express two themes, “emotional classic”, and “rational contemporary”.
Inside the restaurant, concrete and grey represent the contemporary side, while the hand-finishes and natural wood bring in the emotional aspect. The inside of the restaurant seems almost like a Japanese village street, with rooftops and windows, as well as cherry blossoms on the ceiling. The brand identity included Japanese calligraphy and koi fish alongside contemporary colours, once again demonstrating the modern and the traditional, side by side.
