Talk about radical. The Nixie Machine by Frank Buchwald for M.A.D.Gallery is probably the coolest way to tell time on something that isn’t an incredibly impressive wristwatch. It’s a sculptural clock featuring six beautiful glowing Nixie tubes from the 1960s that can either display the time or display the date. Nixie tubes are old school electronic devices that have wire-mesh anode and multiple cathodes inside, discharging a natural glow unlike pretty much anything you’ve seen. These ones are quite larger than the average ones out there—almost 90mm in height—making them almost impossible to source and find. Only 50 of these were made and the price tag is something even the biggest of spenders might feel hesitant about—$28,882. But for something this outstanding, it very well might be worth it.
